Inquiry Projects
This is a program which allows your class to undertake a group project for a term (negotiable timeframes). Your class will have an initial visit from the New Zealand Conservation Trust Officer during which project options can be discussed and requirements outlined.
A planning session at the reserve will follow this, where the students will gain a greater depth of understanding of the project. The project will then be overseen by the teacher in the classroom in liaison with the NZCT education officer. This option may work particularly well for you during topic or project afternoons. Further visits to the park may be necessary during the course of the project.
The aim of this project is to allow for groups to undertake an in-depth inquiry learning project utilizing the resources and knowledge of the New Zealand Conservation Trust and Willowbank Wildlife Reserve. It is anticipated that these projects will be student directed within the guidelines given by NZCT and WWR as to their requirements. All plans and designs will need to be approved by park staff before construction begins. This allows for valuable feed back for the students and ensures that the needs and safety requirements of the animals concerned are being met.
We are happy to hear your ideas and suggestions for projects. For more information please use the on-line enquiries form.
