Anglo-Nubian Goat

Domesticated Livestock – Goat – Rare Breed

ORIGIN: England. This breed was developed from mating Old English goats with goats from eastern countries (Egypt and India).

BREED DESCRIPTION: Medium to large goats. Almost any colour and colour combination can be found. They have roman noses and long flat ears which are set low in their heads.

USE IN NEW ZEALAND: Although these goats produce less milk than some specialised breeds, such as Swiss goats, the quality is far better.

GENERAL: There are two types of Nubian’s in New Zealand; the Anglo-Nubian, bred from purebred English goats and the Nubian, bred from un-registered stock. At the middle of the year 2002, 180 Anglo-Nubians and 3079 Nubians had been registered with the New Zealand Dairy Goat Breeders Association, representing 6.36% of registered dairy goats.
