Domesticated Livestock – Rare Breed 

ORIGIN: Scotland. 

BREED DESCRIPTION: Long shaggy coats and lyre shaped horns. 

USE IN NEW ZEALAND: For the production of milk and breeders interests. 

GENERAL: In the early part of last century these cattle were critically rare, but in recent times a strong resurgence for the breed has seen its population soar the world over. In 1976 Willowbank began breeding these animals with the use of artificial insemination, creating a dynasty that has lasted over 25 years.
