Tui

Issue Date: 18 April 2007

Two Tui have arrived at Willowbank. These birds are endemic birds to New Zealand. They are honeyeaters and found throughout NZ forests and off shore islands.
Tui are attractive birds and have a white tuft at the throat and a small white area on their wings which contrast dramatically with their black / metallic blue-green sheen.
The Tui has a wonderful range of noises and songs - they can whistle, click, chuckle gurgle and trill.
